Koeppen, Leona (Marriage - 16 Oct. 1941)

Miss Leona Koeppen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Koeppen of Colby, Wis., and Frederick Zassenhaus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zassenhaus of Colby, were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby last Thursday morning at 11:00 o’clock, Rev. L. J. Lang reading the marriage ceremony.

The bride was attired in a becoming dress of white brocaded satin, princess style, buttons down the back. Her finger-tip veil of net illusion was held in place with a crown of seed pearls. She wore a brooch which was worn by the groom’s grand mother 72 years ago and by the groom’s mother 31 years ago. Her bouquet consisted of pink and white chrysanthemums.

Miss June Koeppen, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Her dress was of blue brocaded taffeta, princess style, with a shoulder corsage of pompoms and rose buds. Her headdress consisted of a wreath of blue silk flowers to match her dress.

The groom was attended by his cousin, Angus Lamont, Jr.

The bride’s mother chose a teal blue dress with black accessories. The groom’s mother chose a brown dress with matching accessories.

A wedding reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents at 4:30 o’clock. The home was nicely decorated in pink, blue and white streamers and fall flowers and a three layer wedding cake. In the evening, a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion which was largely attended by friends and relatives.

The couple will be at home at Withee, Wis., Rt. No. 2 after October 20th. The groom is employed by Kriplean Bros. and a truck driver.
